I’ve been working with Michael Harrity, a young producer/narrator, on the audiobook version of Operation Exodus, and we in fact completed the project early last month. As with The Laconia Incident, ACX, the production arm of Audible.com, is taking forever to go from “production completed” to “available for sale.”
I’m assuming that it’s all about the international pandemic. I’m past since becoming tired of the whole thing, and I’m sure just about everyone else in the world is, as well. Stick the 2020 national elect brouhaha on top of that, and it seems like American society as we knew it will never, ever, be the same again.
And 2020 didn’t start out all the bad. We had heard about the outbreak of the contagion in China, but I – for one – just put it in the back of my mind, figuring that it would probably not be any worse than the previous SARS outbreaks, and would never personally affect me. Now, here I sit, wondering when the vaccine, one that promises 95% immunity, is ever going to become available for me and mine.
On a happier note, I’ve been notified that The Laconia Incident has been awarded an Indie B.R.A.G. medallion. It’s billed as “the first step in getting an independently-published book critically recognized.” That would be nice.
Have a happy 2021, everybody!
