A Good Review Is a Beautiful Thing!

One of the things an author does before his book comes out is to send proof copies of the book to any interested parties, have them read it, and ask for a review.  Yesterday, Jim Henkel, a fellow submarine service veteran, sent me this:

“I just finished Silent Warriors.  I found the novel very enjoyable and was always looking forward to the next war patrol for Orca.  The commanding officer, Jake Lawlor, is everything I would have expected from a WWII submarine captain.  He was cool, courageous, and enterprising in the face of terrible odds early in the war.

“I am a retired nuclear submariner and although I never sailed on a diesel boat, I could sense the crew’s tension during depth charging and the restrained elation after a torpedo kill. I am going to pass the book on to my son, a Lieutenant currently serving in the submarine force.”

Jim is a retired Navy Lieutenant Commander, and served aboard the nuclear submarines USS Archerfish (SSN 678), and USS Dallas (SSN 700).
